I felt I should update you all about a few exciting prospects and why I might seem a little slow around here of late. So here's a little rundown for the morbidly curious who read my journal.

Life Stuff: Getting Organized
And so the great job hunt continues and I've been turning in portfolios left and right to publishing agencies hoping to pick up some freelance work. I really, truly do not want to work at Hobby Lobby with a college degree, but I'm not above it if I can't find anything else. The good news is I've gotten some positive replies from every agent I've sent work to, the bad news is they are all full and cannot take more people. It seems that good artist's agents in the Southeast have gone the way of the dodo. If any of you know of any agents or any companies that have a fantasy or new age sensibility, do tell!

Convention Craziness: Expanding Beyond Dcon
The other thing that's kept me whirling around like a crazy lady is getting ready for the summer convention madness. I'm aiming to expand beyond dragon con this year and that means handling a bigger inventory than I ever have before. I'll already have about 4 times the art and prints on display at Dragon Con (look for my big shiny Small Bay if you're going this year!). I'll also be displaying work at San Diego Comic Con and plan to hit World Fantasy Con and Anime Weekend Atlanta if the spirit is willing. Now I just need to get everything prepped by September 1st deadlines, a rather daunting thought.

New Opportunities: Exotique 4
It's not so much of a big deal really, but I've entered Silverstrand and Enchained Wind into Exotique 4, an annual of the most beautiful digitally rendered characters published by Ballistic Publishing. I'm just excited at the prospect of being displayed next to so many groovy artists for the first time ever. I'm not going to hold my breath, but it is a rather nice feeling just to be able to have something to put in.

Holy Frijole: FREE STUFF!
I just received about 200 free prints in the mail from a handy little place called Artscow. I know it sounds lame....arts...cow? But it's a damned good deal. The way they work is you get a credit of 400 prints (200 5x7's and 4x6's, among other types of free prints) merely for joining their site. I've previewed the prints myself and they are very nice quality on matte Fujifilm crystal archive paper (what DA used to use before they switched to Kodak). They also print things on products like PSP and DS cases, watches, buttons, and a wide array of interesting objects.

They are based in China, however, so the only catch is you have to pay shipping. But that only turned out to be around $9 for the whole 200 for me. If you'd like to try out the print deal, let me know so I can send you a referral link. It gets me free stuffs

What was that about Commissions?
The sale I wanted to do to mark my leave-taking of small commission work has been put on hold until I can get previous projects finished and a few more samples done. Sorry to keep people on hold who were previously interested, but I promise it will come eventually. Just bare with me and keep an eye out on my journals.
