Rapunzel Collection II-(Strips 5-8)
Rapunzel Collection III-(Strips 9-12)
Rapunzel Collection IV-(Strips 13-16)
Rapunzel Collection V-(Strips 17-20)

Here is the collection of Strips 5-8 of the Rapunzel comic strips I am currently working on for The Connector student newspaper at SCAD-Atlanta presenting my dark reinterpretation of the Rapunzel tale.

In these pages, the farmer risks his life to discover the secret of his wife's cravings, but will he live to tell the tale?

Stay tuned to ~ladydove7-story for the latest, or the collections which will appear on this account every 4 strips.

Awesome! ur 'woodcut' illustration has gotten much more refined ...and i like the typeface with the dialogue "what man steals my rapunzel?" and "I am Gothel...". suits the look a lot better.

i also appreciate it that u did away with the 'old hag' stereotype of witches. the world definitely needs less of that. :)

overall score: fabulous, dahling! :P

I read your mind like an open book
You've lost the fire in your eyes

And then it's raining
Oh no, tears are falling
XXXD! I would be angry too if someone broke into my garden to steal some flowers. Did he ever consider it took her a long time to grow them??? ;)

I wanted something to make the witch's dialogue stand out from the other characters and that font suited it so perfectly. The rest of the comic will still be in book antique for the other characters, though.

I'm more than happy to break that old stereotype. For me, Rapunzel never was about villainizing the witch. Even in the original, she only wanted to protect her from a cruel world. I'm glad you're enjoying my retelling thus far:)

What I don't get is why he didn't go over one day like a normal person and ask for some. Maybe offer to buy it.

Occasionally, by accident, I am a jerk. When I am, please let me know, and, if the situation warrants it, hit me with a blunt object.
ahah a good idea, but would you want to go to the house of the neighborhood witch who turns people into frogs, eats children, etc etc?XD

"Yo can I borrow some eggs and sugar?"

Better than stealing and making her angry!
The immoral, but possibly smartest, thing to do if she really is evil and you have no chance just asking would be to rally the town against her, and sneak into the garden while she had her hands full with pitchfork-and-torch-wielding idiots.
