I took the older picture of Aurora and touched the background up with hints of color (mostly done in prismacolor pencil). It needed SOMETHING. I might revisit this again in the future if I can think of anything better to put in the background. Anyone have any suggestions? This character is my Elven street samurai Aurora whom I roleplayed ages ago for a Shadowrun campaign, a world of the future mixed with a new era of magic.
At the tender age of 18, Aurora was a murderer. By 21, she was a murderer for hire and an exotic dancer. Throw in a government trained ninja, a horrible experiment, and Aurora's growing psychosis and you have her back-story entitled Jade Tears. Be warned, her story is not for the faint of heart or mind. I haven't drawn Aurora in years. I should really revisit her sometime soon.
She looks pretty creepy... her eyes really seem to glow this sort of maddened, inner fire, and they stand up against her face, making them everpresent... relaying the crazyness, so to say, along with this 'Joker smile' on her lips .
Was it done using color pencils? It looks like it... and very good job with this on the shadings. The reflections in the hair look purty, too. amazing how what is considered by lot like a 'lower medium' can give good results if properly used...
Nice job on the detail of the hands, however, there does seem to be an issue of shoulder placement. I think that the shoulder that you've shown is a little to close to her neck.
Actually, now that I look at it more, you've done her whole upper body/shoulders a little too narrow. Its barely 1.5 head lengths wide, and it should probably be closer to twice the head length wide. If that makes much sense.
I also think that her upper arm (above the elbow to below shoulder) is too short, it should be pretty much the same size as her forearm (or roughtly thereabouts).
I think her ears are placed a little high on her head, despite the slight tilt.
But other than that, you've done her expression well and her foremost hand extremely well.
Her shoulder does seem to be in a little too far but I didnt notice it untill I looked at it a few times...Great job on the shading and detail and she looks seductive and creepy. Great job! Keep it up
wow beautiful pic^^ as for the background, as you said she is a ninja and an assassin so a nightime like background with a faint aura around her would prolly fill the rest of the pic^^

There may not always be a choice, but there is in the end a point to all things.
