BAT (Bon A Tierer) print for my zinc plate acid etching project for Printmaking class. This was my first ever try at acid etching and I must say I really like the process of carving into the ground and letting the acid make the lines for you. I have new respect for medieval artists who did things in this old fashioned method of printing. I think I like the metal plate itself more than I like the printed images I pulled from the printing plate.
With the image itself, I tried to pay homage to the original traditional medieval satire and line style. The muse gives the Artist fruit while she's slowly clawed at and drawn into an inspiration emerging from her tired form. The fruit itself comes from the product of the Artist's dreamings as she is forever caught in the cycle of creation, consumption, and completion. It's almost a self-portrait of sorts.
I think I'm going to experiment and try to add color to this with watercolor HOPEFULLY sometime this week. For now, enjoy the black and white version!
It looks like there's shading in there, but it's only ink...wow...this truly is an amazing feat. And all the details @_@ wow...although I seem to remember there being more hands reaching up to her...?
I look forward to your watercolor versions! *is swallowed up in all the detail* Mmmmmmm
It looks beautiful!! I can't believe how well it came out, I've heard etchign is really difficult. Iit looks like the little detais were hard to do, since they're lighter, like the faces... but yu still got every detail perfect. It's fantastic!! I'd die to see it in color, it's wonderful! Amazing work hun!

I keep putting off commenting on this in the hopes that I'll be able to think of something intelligent to say, but I've about given up on that. I just dun have the words to describe how beautiful and meaningful I find this image to be.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
